Hey! I'm Dylan and I am currently an aspiring game designer with a Games degree from the University of Utah. My primary focus is technical design but I also have experience in level, systems, and combat design.
Ever since I took my first game design class way back in high school I have been fascinated in the creation of video games. Playing games had always been just a hobby of mine. From MOBA's such as Dota 2 or League of Legends to TTRPG's like Dungeons and Dragons, they had always been just a way to kill some time and hang out with friends.
While that might still be the case, moving into the academic and professional fields has deepened my appreciation for them. Playing games has turned into a constant opportunity to analyze what makes them enjoyable and take inspiration that I can use to further my own designs. Whenever I run into something that leaves an impact on me, I can't help but wonder what went into making it. After all, my biggest goal as a developer is to leave a lasting impression on my players.
Outside of everything games related, one of my favorite hobbies is cooking. There's just something so relaxing and fulfilling about creating a tasty dish that you can sit down and enjoy. Beacause of how versitile they are, breakfast foods are probably my favorite things to cook.
Reading is also something that I love doing but I feel like that's sort of been taken over by lore-dense video games or reading through the rules of TTRPGs that I'm trying to run for my friends. That being said, "The Accidental Hero" series by Matt Myklusch is probably my all-time favorite book that I've read. Taking all of the parts of pop culture that I love and slapping them into a really cool world is more than enough to get me hooked!
